"The gifted Joann Dufau shows some of the most sensuously-charged and realism fixated paintings...
The realism factor tends to make her paintings serve as visual anchors in the midst of art less beholden to the shock of the real."

Raised in an artistic family, Joann began painting at an early age. After receiving an art degree from UCLA, she had a successful career in advertising illustration. Moving to Santa Barbara, California in 2000, Joann turned to fine art and to perfecting her talent as an oil painter. She began her studies at the Marchutz School in Aix En Provence, France. Being introduced to the land of Cezanne, its light and color influenced her work. Over the next few years Joann worked extensively with Wade Schuman and Richard Sheldon. In 2005 Joann completed her studies with Adrian Gottlieb in Los Angeles and at the Florence Academy of Art In Florence Italy.

Joann's style has developed into a clear realistic statement based on natural observation and intuitive feeling. Conceptually, she finds our common thread, wrapping it around us so that we can see ourselves.

Although she would be considered an emerging artist, her work shows a vision that has evolved over the years. Her unique view of the human experience is captured with grace and technical competence.
